Junita Lamprecht Van Dijk

Junita established the first uniquely multi-cultural university choir in South Africa in 1994. Under her direction, the sought after Nelson Mandela University Choir received and accepted numerous invitations to international festivals all over the world.

She is well known as a choral conducting pedagogue and started an academic choral conducting program at the Nelson Mandela University in conjunction with the Norgeskorforbund (Norwegian Choral Association). This initiative has seen many of its post-graduate students make a name for themselves as conductors and pedagogues, nationally and internationally.

Junita's passion for choral music and her dedication to the personal growth of her choir members has been widely recognized.

Junita actively conducts, adjudicates choral competitions and presents lectures and choral workshops nationally and internationally, e g - Norway, Spain, USA, Philippines, Beijing and Macau.

A particular highlight in her conducting career is the invitation to serve on the IFCM's Artistic Committee for the 2017 World Choral Symposium in Barcelona.

In the words of Nelson Mandela - after attending a performance by the Nelson Mandela University Choir, "Your choir is a true reflection of the new South Africa."
